[0.0s] Previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [2.4s] And they begin cracking and moving and screaming. [5.2s] Well, something may be a little worse than undead kicking around in here, guys. [8.4s] Happy news. [9.4s] You step out into this forest, hit a hot wave of humid air. [13.2s] Not too far. A clearing. [16.0s] I think we can follow the path there. [19.4s] Okay. Yeah, that's our best bet. [21.4s] You look in and you see inside. [25.2s] There are seven figures inside seven cells. [29.8s] The cells themselves are constructed with what looks like melded together skeletal figures. [38.0s] What are you doing here? [40.4s] Well, this is gonna sound lame. Saving you guys? [42.6s] I don't know. [43.8s] We were coming to rescue you and bring magic back to the world. [47.8s] Oh, delightful. Excellent. [49.6s] Do me first. Do me first. [51.2s] And you are? [53.2s] Didn't you recognize me in my fine janitor outfit? [57.0s] Just a janitor over here. [60.4s] That's what I thought. [63.6s] Fucking janitor. [64.6s] I'm gonna go knock on Bahamut's cell. [67.6s] The old man, he naps through everything. [70.4s] Yenbul goes behind Sirik and then just like plants herself and pushes as hard as she can. [81.2s] Clerics! [82.2s] With you all huddled close, we see him blink. [89.0s] As you all teleport out of the prison. [98.2s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons. [99.8s] I'm your Dungeon Master Russ More. [101.2s] He, him. Also with me today is Amy More. [103.4s] I am here and I play Thea Amastasia, a female high elf druid and we both go by she, her. [111.2s] And Carla Maxted. [112.8s] She, her. [114.0s] I'm playing Yen Bolnuri, a Kalishtar cleric. [117.0s] Also she, her. [118.6s] And Tom Laird's here. [120.2s] He, him. [121.0s] And I am playing Tulgier Heavyfoot, a mountain dwarf pAlydin who I don't know where to go with that sentence. [128.8s] Who is a cool guy? [131.0s] Cool guy. [132.2s] It's a real cool guy. [133.4s] I somehow have blanked out that his last name was Heavyfoot. [136.4s] Yeah. [137.2s] That seemed like brand new information to me, which it definitely wasn't. [142.0s] Which Tulgier is a patron named character. [146.2s] So thank you, Christian Brown, for naming Tulgier Heavyfoot for us. [151.0s] You know who's not here? [151.8s] Kristen. Sorry, Kristen. [153.0s] Wait, I thought she was a new permanent cast member. [155.2s] I know. What the heck? [156.8s] I'm sorry. [157.6s] We tricked her time and again and somehow she became wise to our tricks. [162.6s] And then was like, nah, even though my character's still around, I got to go my separate ways. [167.2s] It's fair. [168.4s] That's understandable. [169.0s] I mean, a goth is around, obviously, because we're... [171.8s] Yeah, a goth and rax are out having adventures, doing cool stuff. [175.2s] They got their own things to do. [176.4s] You know what? They might even be standing right next to you for the rest of forever until [179.6s] Kristen decides she wants to come back. [181.2s] Who knows? [181.8s] Fun. [182.6s] Who knows? Just following around. [184.2s] We'll see how the game plays. [186.4s] But you can... [188.8s] This is going back to the other thing that I mentioned previously. [191.2s] You can name characters over at Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast, but also get an episode [198.4s] dedicated to you like today's patron, Eric Houlihan. [202.2s] Hey, thank you, Eric, with a super fun last night. [206.2s] I know it's so fun. [207.2s] Hey, it's fun to see. [208.0s] Houlihan. [209.2s] Obligatory mash joke right here. [212.8s] Yeah, mash. [217.2s] You did it. [218.0s] Yay. [219.8s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [221.6s] Now, fuck it. [222.2s] Let's play. [223.6s] An icy, stale wind blows across the city of Bryn Shander as our group appears in an [235.8s] illuminated shudder. [237.0s] The city is destroyed, flattened to the ground. [248.0s] Thea, Yenbul, Talgir, Agoth and Rax huddle around the recovering human form of Bahamut. [256.6s] He looks frail and disheveled and begins to collapse after having teleported the group [262.4s] back to Corsair. [263.4s] A sickening and all-too-familiar sound begins to cut through the wind. [271.6s] It's the sound of a horde. [276.0s] You look around and all streets leading to this town center, or what was town center, [283.0s] begin overflowing with flesh-rotted zombies. [287.0s] This is not good. [289.0s] We thought this was the last stronghold. [292.0s] What does this mean? [294.0s] Got any magic in you, Bahamut? [296.0s] How you doing here, buddy? [298.0s] He just groans and lifts his head, but... [304.0s] Does he give me the hang loose, but his heart isn't in it? [309.0s] Yeah, that's the feel you get from the eyes rolling back in his head. [315.0s] Alright, well, if he can't really help us, I think I got something that might... [322.0s] I've had this thing for a while and I've yet to use it. [326.0s] I know the situation isn't great, but this is actually kind of exciting. [330.0s] I'm excited for you. What you got? [332.0s] Telgir roots around in his bag and you see him pull out a conch shell. [340.0s] It's two and a half feet long. Looks like it weighs a few pounds. [345.0s] And it's got a rune engraved in the side of it. [350.0s] Oh, that's pretty. [352.0s] Everybody... [354.0s] Can we get inside here? [356.0s] I don't really know how this is going to feel when I do this. [360.0s] Where are you putting this? [362.0s] Should we hold hands? [364.0s] Yeah, I don't really know. [366.0s] Maybe we all link hands and you can grab Bahamut's hands there. [373.0s] I'm going to blow on this thing and it's going to take us back. [376.0s] How do you know that? [378.0s] The horde's 15 feet away. [380.0s] I don't care, blow. [382.0s] And he takes a big lungful of breath and blows into the conch. [387.0s] What's the sound like, Tom? [395.0s] The sound of the conch of teleportation echoes out. [400.0s] As regal as it sounds. [402.0s] Super regal. [404.0s] As the dirt and frost around the heroes begins to rise, their eyes are drawn to a high point. [410.0s] A hill at the edge of the city on the horizon. [414.0s] And the dimly lit silhouettes of a tall dragonborn and a hooded gnome appear before them. [421.0s] In an instant, the spiraling energy, as if drawn from the centre of the group, pulls quickly in and the group is gone. [432.0s] It's quiet. [434.0s] Until we hear a build-up and... [437.0s] POP! [439.0s] Followed by the settling of dust to the stone floor in the sewer hideout beneath Castle Orcus. [447.0s] There's a gasp as everyone in the area turns with panic and then relief as they see your group before them. [457.0s] There's a beat and you hear from within the group. [462.0s] Holy fuck! [467.0s] Flamekins runs forward towards the group and, before Thea can say anything, leaps high in the air and wraps herself around your neck. [478.0s] They said you were back, but then you left before I came back and then I thought you might not come back, but you're back and Flint's still out and she's shaking you. [491.0s] Get your boobs out of my face! [493.0s] Put you back! [495.0s] You're back! [497.0s] Yes! [498.0s] She breaks into tears and you feel her sobbing as she hugs you. [502.0s] Oh, I hug her back tight. [505.0s] Yeah, we're back. [508.0s] Stepping out from the crowd is Leosin and a group of resistance who move towards you and begin checking your wounds and tending to the old man who you are all surrounding and appear to be protecting. [521.0s] You came back. Who's this? Come in, quick! [526.0s] Oh yeah, careful with the merchandise over here. [529.0s] Who is this? [530.0s] We found one. [531.0s] You don't recognize him? [533.0s] We have returned with a god. [534.0s] Come on, he's a really cool guy. [538.0s] Wait, you found Bahamut? [543.0s] Yeah, we wanted the best one, I assume. [547.0s] He's speechless. [550.0s] He snaps quickly to the resistance who have come and with all arms ushering them to move him back to a bed somewhere where he can rest. [561.0s] How did you? [564.0s] Do you know what this means? [566.0s] Do we have a fighting chance in this thing? [569.0s] Yeah. [570.0s] Okay, good, because that's why we did. Is this not why we're doing this? [576.0s] I feel very overwhelmed right now. [578.0s] There's a lot going on. [579.0s] Yeah, I'm just gonna hold you a little bit longer. [582.0s] Yeah, I feel like her legs are wrapped around my waist and I'm just like cradling her like, you know, like you do a toddler. [591.0s] Come in, come in, have a rest. [596.0s] I assume we were gone for the appropriate amount of time. [600.0s] There hasn't been any sort of extreme time jumps while we're gone. [604.0s] It's been a couple weeks. [608.0s] Honestly, quicker than I thought we would be. [610.0s] We unfortunately have bad news, too. [614.0s] Okay. [615.0s] We went to Luskin. [617.0s] Yes. [618.0s] And? [619.0s] And you found the Brotherhood? [621.0s] No. [622.0s] Not exactly. The tower still stands, but no one is there manning it. [627.0s] There were clues and we followed them to Icewind Dale. [633.0s] There was a god there. [635.0s] A small god. [636.0s] Aureal? [637.0s] Aureal, yes. [639.0s] Nailed it. [640.0s] They were remaining. [645.0s] They were remaining. [648.0s] Then we returned with Bahamut. [652.0s] The city had been taken by the dead. [655.0s] We would have too if... [660.0s] Fulgur had a giant shell. [662.0s] That's right, yes. [663.0s] Sorry. [664.0s] I can't breathe. [665.0s] Can you loosen up a little bit? [667.0s] Yeah, sure. [669.0s] Just going to stretch it out here. [671.0s] Totally cool. [672.0s] Playing it cool. [673.0s] It's good to see you. [674.0s] Alright. [675.0s] Fist bump. [676.0s] Where are your friends? [677.0s] That's okay. [678.0s] We don't have to explain it right now. [680.0s] I'm sure it's been explained before. [682.0s] I'll go ask somebody else. [683.0s] I'll see you in a minute. [684.0s] She's lined up pretty tight that one. [686.0s] Yes, she is. [687.0s] And also, I apologize in advance. [690.0s] You'll know why. [692.0s] Veliosan... [695.0s] What do we do now? [696.0s] We have returned Bahamut. [699.0s] We have seen other gods in a prison. [705.0s] If there's a way we can get back there, we could get them out. [708.0s] It just requires a little tradesies. [711.0s] He doesn't appear to be at peak performance, I will say. [717.0s] Yeah, there was a few there. [720.0s] And really, the only one that seemed to be high functioning was Sirik. [725.0s] Yeah, that sounds like a recipe for not ending up where we wanted to end up, [732.0s] if you were to have brought him back. [734.0s] Yeah, we tricked the trickster. [736.0s] He's probably really mad. [738.0s] He's probably pretty upset with us when we do free him. [743.0s] Great. [744.0s] If. [745.0s] I think he'll be stoked to be free, though. [748.0s] True. [749.0s] That's for another time. [751.0s] We'll worry about that when we have to cross that bridge. [754.0s] It sounds like they don't let them out quite at any... [758.0s] They don't let them out from the sounds of it, correct? [761.0s] No. [762.0s] Yes. [763.0s] I mean, that was what we were led to believe. [765.0s] Well, they take them out, but only to exterminate or destroy them. [772.0s] Yeah, Sirik said once they go out, they don't come back. [777.0s] This last couple weeks has been the most relief we have seen in more than 10 years. [789.0s] But I fear that we are creating ripples in Orcus's... [797.0s] Nipples. [799.0s] The old ripple nipple. [801.0s] Yes. [802.0s] That is bad. [803.0s] I'm glad I have this halting speech pattern where you can fill in exactly what you want to say. [809.0s] Everything I want. [810.0s] Yes. [811.0s] Ripples in his security. [814.0s] Don't say nipples again. [816.0s] She almost did. [817.0s] She was this close. [820.0s] Waves in his butt. [825.0s] Waves in his butt. [826.0s] Yep. [827.0s] See, I beat you to it. [828.0s] We got good bloops already for this episode. [830.0s] It wasn't good though. [836.0s] Did you see anyone, obviously not if they didn't come back with you, but anyone remaining in Icewind Dale where you were? [846.0s] Just a rather large crowd coming in from where the barriers were down. [852.0s] We saw someone up on the hill. [855.0s] I don't know who. [857.0s] Yes, we saw Dragonborn and a gnome on the hill. [862.0s] Yeah, there were two people there. [867.0s] We had met them in the pyramid. [869.0s] Yeah. [870.0s] Could it be Orcus's right hand Vorunax? [877.0s] I believe so with his left hand Lipsinki. [883.0s] Well, the relief is that we have a god who hopefully is mending and replenishing themselves enough to help us with whatever we need to do next. [899.0s] With Bahamut and Grancys. [904.0s] Sorry. [908.0s] Flamekins came back from the abyss and brought Grancys. [914.0s] She did what now? [916.0s] Well, I fear for you that we need him. [921.0s] Oh, son of a bitch. [923.0s] He is also recovering in a comatose state induced. [931.0s] Okay, now how long can we keep that like maybe just till the last minute? [935.0s] I'm kidding. [936.0s] We need him to be up to his power. [940.0s] He's one of the last trained wizards left in the world, Thea. [946.0s] I know. [949.0s] Guys, he's just so irritating. [951.0s] He's a friend of yours? [953.0s] Uh, yeah, sort of, I guess. [956.0s] Yeah. [957.0s] I mean, the man makes a mean pancake. [959.0s] I'll give him that. [960.0s] I mean, the more the merrier, right? [962.0s] Yes. [963.0s] I've never actually seen him do anything useful, but I keep being told he is very powerful. [969.0s] So, Leosin, that's on you if that doesn't pan out. [974.0s] Fine, totally on me. [975.0s] Okay, cool. [976.0s] I'll fill out the paperwork that says, nope, he wasn't that powerful. [979.0s] I don't think you do paperwork anymore, do you? [980.0s] My question is to you. [981.0s] He's been down there for this long. [983.0s] Why would Orcus keep him? [986.0s] He's turned everybody else. [988.0s] Probably to turn him on to us and cause some disgruntled Thea where I'm just going [998.0s] to wreck everything in here now. [1000.0s] I can see your hair going grayer as I'm talking. [1005.0s] I'm messing with you, Leosin. [1007.0s] The more, not the merrier, I will be terse, but the more power we have on our side, [1014.0s] the better. [1015.0s] As I was saying with Bahamut and Grancis back, we will have been creating points [1027.0s] to notice in Orcus and his followers. [1031.0s] If it was in fact Vorunax and Lipsinki that you saw, they will be on the lookout [1036.0s] for anything out of the ordinary. [1038.0s] As they must know, you have returned. [1041.0s] Well, they did see us disappear in a giant flash of magic, so that we couldn't help. [1049.0s] And appear in one. [1050.0s] Well, then it might not be long before they are able to find us. [1057.0s] There are two things that we can do. [1063.0s] We have another party out trying to recover a relic of supposed teleportation. [1071.0s] It was used in the fight against Tiamat to bridge the planes between the material [1082.0s] and the nine hells to bring the devils here. [1086.0s] And we want that because... [1092.0s] Because we can't get anywhere outside of our present time. [1100.0s] If we have a god who can harness that power, there's no stopping us from being [1109.0s] able to move through not only space, but maybe time. [1115.0s] Oh. [1116.0s] That would be good. [1121.0s] That seems very important. [1123.0s] I would say time travel relic top of the list, right? [1128.0s] Yes. [1129.0s] What's number two? [1131.0s] If our location is found out, we believe there may be a refuge on the continent [1141.0s] of Mastika. [1143.0s] Flamingons has a vessel available to take us there. [1151.0s] It's across the sea. [1154.0s] We hadn't traveled because we had no way. [1158.0s] No way to get out. [1160.0s] No way to get there. [1161.0s] And no real... [1162.0s] I mean, we still don't have real proof that there is life there as well. [1168.0s] But with you saying that the last refuge that we didn't know about on this land [1176.0s] is gone, there's nothing for us here. [1181.0s] Okay. [1183.0s] So plan. [1186.0s] We need to go and get this relic and also escape with pirate Flamingons to [1199.0s] Mastika. [1201.0s] Mastika. [1203.0s] Mastika. [1204.0s] Mastika. [1205.0s] The land of cheese. [1207.0s] To Mastika. [1210.0s] Toriel can't be dead. [1212.0s] If it was dead, Orcus would stop having his forces hunting refugees and patrolling every [1220.0s] way. [1221.0s] He would have got his way. [1222.0s] Everyone would be pain free and able to just go about their business. [1228.0s] But he's still hunting. [1230.0s] He still has Varnax and Lipsynki going out and destroying. [1233.0s] That means they know that there are places. [1236.0s] And that's why I hope Mastika is one of those places. [1241.0s] We will rest here as long as we can. [1245.0s] Hopefully give Bahamut and Flint and Grants his time to recover. [1255.0s] How's Flint doing? [1257.0s] No positive change. [1260.0s] He hasn't woken. [1261.0s] Barely stirred. [1262.0s] He is still breathing. [1264.0s] The transformation has maintained where it was when you left, which was almost [1270.0s] entirely. [1272.0s] Would you like to see him take some time? [1278.0s] Let me think on it. [1282.0s] Okay. [1283.0s] So what's the word on this relic? [1285.0s] Where do we need to go? [1286.0s] Who do we have to kill? [1287.0s] What's the plan? [1289.0s] Well, we actually have a group out who's due back hopefully soon. [1297.0s] I've asked you to do enough. [1302.0s] If they return with it, then we can use it. [1306.0s] And if not, well, then we will send you following them. [1311.0s] But let's hope that they make it back. [1314.0s] It's not passed when they should be due back yet. [1322.0s] And in the meantime, we should be preparing. [1326.0s] Packing, becoming as mobile as we can so we can escape. [1330.0s] Exactly. [1332.0s] Knowing that Vorunax and Lipsinki will likely be returning to here. [1340.0s] Castle Orcus, Waterdeep, whatever we want to call it now. [1344.0s] We should probably make our go-bags, so to speak, and be ready to move. [1351.0s] Agatha, come with me. [1354.0s] We can feed Rax some and some people would like you to meet in the back. [1361.0s] Maybe you can help arrange things back here. [1364.0s] Agatha, thank you. [1366.0s] Yes, thank you. [1367.0s] For fighting with us. [1368.0s] We could not have done any of this without you, without either of you. [1374.0s] We are not done yet. [1376.0s] I will expect to see you back. [1380.0s] You do not disappoint me. [1384.0s] I want to go see Flint. [1386.0s] Okay. [1387.0s] And I'm going to go and I'm going to meditate beside him. [1390.0s] Okay. [1391.0s] You walk back further into the refuge and back to the makeshift triage center where Flint is laid out. [1401.0s] And as you enter, you see Grancis in the cot beside him. [1408.0s] Flint would be so pissed right now. [1412.0s] Yeah, he'd probably be okay given the circumstances, you know, with comas and stuff. [1418.0s] Did you say comos? [1420.0s] Well, Perry was a good friend of mine. [1423.0s] You know, comos. [1425.0s] It's just a saying. [1426.0s] When you're sleeping, you're down and you're going to go all around. [1431.0s] I'm going to let myself out, okay? [1433.0s] Well, it's nice seeing you there, I guess. [1435.0s] I feel real weird. [1437.0s] That's okay. [1438.0s] Would it have been more entertaining if Thea had, like, grabbed a pillow and was moving it toward Grancis and then Flamikinskins interrupted her? [1446.0s] No, Thea wouldn't. [1449.0s] Thea just finished saying we need his help. [1452.0s] But maybe we don't. [1456.0s] Oh, I thought that was Flint. [1457.0s] I was going to put him out of his misery. [1460.0s] I'll just give you a moment there with Flint. [1463.0s] Thanks, Flamikinskins. [1465.0s] It's nice to see you. [1467.0s] It's fucking great to see you. [1471.0s] Okay, I'm going to go now. [1473.0s] Okay, bye. [1476.0s] I don't know what to say. [1477.0s] You're both, you know, in a coma. [1484.0s] Plus, I'm really just talking to you, Flint and Grancis. [1489.0s] You're very much, like, putting your nose where it doesn't belong just by being here. [1494.0s] But it'd be really, well, it'd be awful nice if you guys could wake up. [1505.0s] And, you know, there's quite the, quite the shit storm happening. [1509.0s] So if maybe he had anything in there that help you to get on up, or at least just, you know, [1521.0s] don't turn into a dragonborn completely and lose yourself to another soul inside you, [1529.0s] that'd be great because I'm still working on it. [1535.0s] What if he lost himself to the music? [1538.0s] Flamikinskins, it's like a personal moment. [1541.0s] Sorry, I was just around the corner. [1543.0s] I'm not listening. [1544.0s] It's a small place. [1546.0s] It's not. It's enormous. [1548.0s] You guys will figure that out when you wake up, either here or you may be on a boat. [1556.0s] Just going to hang out for a bit. [1559.0s] I'm going to meditate in the corner until I regain my hit points. [1564.0s] Thea, you sit down and begin meditating. [1568.0s] And we fade out on that scene and into a dark space. [1583.0s] It's the middle time. [1588.0s] Oh, I feel like you were a gong. [1591.0s] I did feel kind of gongish. [1592.0s] I felt a little flat from where I wanted to be, so I just kind of just held it a little longer. [1597.0s] Then it seems intentional. [1600.0s] It was very mellow and yeah, like we're meditating. [1606.0s] Let's just bring everyone just way down in the middle of this podcast. [1610.0s] Just the energy, just drop it. [1613.0s] Let's just very calmly talk about 100 episodes. [1617.0s] Exhale. [1622.0s] Sneak attack. [1625.0s] Hey, we're almost at 100 episodes for season two. [1628.0s] They said it couldn't be done and we did it. [1630.0s] So we showed them. [1632.0s] We looked at season one, we were like 84 episodes. [1637.0s] We can do that in our sleep. [1639.0s] Let's add a second timeline and double that. [1643.0s] When you put it like that, it's crazy. [1646.0s] It's really, I mean, decisions were made. [1650.0s] But wouldn't that be really cool if while we hit our 100th episode, we also had 100 patrons? [1656.0s] That would be very cool. [1657.0s] It'd be so good because then our patrons could hear the Grants of Slammikins episode that is ready. [1664.0s] Oh, it's just waiting. [1665.0s] It's ready and waiting. [1666.0s] It's just waiting. [1667.0s] It's in the Disney vault waiting to be released. [1670.0s] Exactly. [1671.0s] Does Disney still have a vault? [1672.0s] Are we allowed to say Disney? [1673.0s] I don't think so. [1674.0s] I mean, now with Disney Plus, I would assume not. [1675.0s] I mean, I think everything's out of the vault. [1677.0s] They took it out of the vault. [1678.0s] Maybe they should put Little Mermaid 2 back in the vault. [1681.0s] Some Ariel. [1684.0s] Ariel's not even in it, is she? [1687.0s] Barely. [1688.0s] I didn't know there was a sequel. [1690.0s] Is it about her daughter? [1691.0s] Yeah, she has a talk being all like. [1692.0s] We've really gotten sidetracked, guys. [1693.0s] Hey, 100 patrons. [1695.0s] We would love to have 100 patrons by the time we reach 100 episodes, mostly because it would be really cool. [1703.0s] It's just the optics of 100 to 100. [1706.0s] I mean, it's nice. [1707.0s] Well, and we have that cool bonus episode burning a hole in our pocket. [1710.0s] It's so hot. [1712.0s] It's like sizzling. [1714.0s] I mean, it has Grancis in it, it's just not that hot. [1716.0s] I got it all edited, ready to go. [1718.0s] I just got to hit schedule. [1720.0s] And then as soon as we hit that 100 patrons, it goes live, baby. [1724.0s] And you can get Grancis and flame beacons. [1726.0s] Me! [1727.0s] Oh, I couldn't even jump it. [1729.0s] Dang. [1730.0s] I've been on summer break. [1731.0s] It's been a long time. [1732.0s] Me, me, and me. [1734.0s] Yeah, there we go. [1735.0s] I had to go. [1736.0s] Grancis to flame beacons. [1738.0s] If every one of you were to tell a friend, maybe then. [1744.0s] To go listen to all 100 episodes. [1746.0s] And then at this point, join us. [1750.0s] Oh, okay. [1751.0s] Well, I was just going to say. [1753.0s] Go back and listen to all, what, 96 episodes up to this point, and then finish it off. [1758.0s] Yeah, absolutely. [1759.0s] That'd be great. [1760.0s] I'm just saying, if everyone tells one person, we need a handful of patron lists, we'll make it to 100. [1768.0s] I mean, if everybody who listened to the show signed up for our lowest tier, I mean, we'd be. [1774.0s] Having so many patrons. [1775.0s] Having so many patrons. [1776.0s] Having so many talks, so many gook hangs. [1778.0s] We need so many more bonus episodes. [1780.0s] So many more bonus episodes. [1781.0s] And that's the thing, when you are a patron, you get access to so many bonus episodes. [1785.0s] Tom runs a game over there that I can't wait to play. [1787.0s] I can't wait to play. [1788.0s] I think we get to play it later this month. [1789.0s] Do we? [1792.0s] It's tomorrow, Tom. [1793.0s] Get on it. [1794.0s] Jeez. [1796.0s] But I'm really looking forward to that. [1797.0s] Where I play Tabaxi Bard and Amy plays a surly Goliath barbarian. [1807.0s] And Elia plays just the most delightful Asimar monk. [1810.0s] Well, Carla plays Elia. [1811.0s] What did I say? [1812.0s] Elia plays an Asimar monk. [1814.0s] Oh. [1815.0s] Elia is an Asimar monk. [1816.0s] I mean, Carla just embodies every character she steps into. [1818.0s] Same, same, same. [1819.0s] I also do a lot of flips and punches and kicks and real fast moves. [1824.0s] And you're so fast. [1825.0s] In my daily life. [1826.0s] She's doing them right now. [1827.0s] Like amazing mic presence. [1828.0s] It's incredible. [1829.0s] As it's happening. [1830.0s] Just flipping. [1831.0s] The body control. [1832.0s] You could be a part of that. [1833.0s] Amazing. [1834.0s] You could be a part of that Patreon family. [1835.0s] Patreon.com. [1836.0s] Slash dumb dragon cast. [1837.0s] We'd love to see you over there. [1839.0s] Get you back to the episode now. [1840.0s] Thanks so much for being here with us. [1842.0s] We'll talk to you soon. [1843.0s] Okay, bye. [1844.0s] Love you, bye. [1846.0s] The smell of fresh baked goods permeates the senses. [1862.1s] As we open on a quiet and modest underground dwelling, we hear movement through and beyond [1872.5s] the door. [1873.5s] And as we enter, we see Flint standing in the kitchen, rolling out dough, a filling boiling [1883.0s] on the hearth with his sister, Helges, tending it. [1886.5s] I can't believe you volunteered us both to make all of these pies for the block [1891.2s] party. [1892.2s] It did. [1893.2s] Well, it didn't seem like everybody was going to come. [1897.3s] But I mean, once they found out that we were making our special peach pies, everybody [1901.7s] signed up. [1902.7s] I know. [1903.7s] I'm sorry. [1904.7s] I know you had a few other things to do, but I appreciate you helping and actually [1909.3s] sticking around and helping me because doing it myself would have been nightmarish. [1914.5s] Oh, you wouldn't have got it done. [1917.2s] There's no way. [1918.2s] Okay. [1919.2s] So what do I have to add now? [1920.2s] Like you have to stir it for 45 minutes and then and then add there was a there [1925.5s] was a special ingredient. [1926.8s] Yeah. [1927.8s] So let that one boil for a little bit. [1930.1s] It's already done. [1931.7s] As far as this one over here, though, yeah, that's where we need to add the special [1936.3s] ingredient. [1938.6s] Mom's little secret, cinnamon. [1942.3s] I know what you're thinking. [1943.3s] Well, that's a pretty common ingredient, especially in a peach pie. [1947.0s] It really, really takes it above and beyond. [1950.7s] Door swings open on the other side of the room. [1953.8s] Your mom steps out in her nightgown. [1956.0s] Are you giving everybody my special secret again? [1958.5s] What? [1959.6s] I mean, everybody. [1960.6s] It's only me and Helga here. [1962.0s] Everybody's listening, Flint. [1963.0s] Everybody's listening. [1964.0s] I mean, I don't think. [1967.0s] Okay. [1968.0s] Sure. [1969.0s] Yeah. [1970.0s] You know what? [1971.0s] Everyone's listening. [1972.0s] We'll keep it under wraps. [1973.0s] Her eyes dart to a window beside you. [1975.3s] You see the neighbor boy, Timber, who's peeking up kind of like Kilroy style over [1980.5s] the edge, and he locks eyes with your mom and bolts down and you hear footsteps [1985.3s] running off. [1986.3s] Okay. [1987.8s] Okay. [1988.8s] Well, he was watching, but I don't think that really means everyone was watching. [1995.2s] That Timber has got loose lips and loose lips sink ships, which really isn't a great [2000.3s] saying when you're underground. [2001.3s] I mean, I think it still works. [2004.3s] Tell you what, I'll stop by his house later on and I'll have a little chat with [2008.7s] him and we'll make sure that it stays hush hush. [2010.9s] All right. [2011.9s] You make sure that kid knows to keep the cinnamon to himself. [2014.8s] I mean, I'll bring him a pie too. [2016.6s] So that'll probably help. [2018.5s] Door slams shut behind her. [2019.5s] She goes back into her room. [2022.5s] Okay. [2023.5s] So we have to speak quieter. [2024.5s] Yeah. [2025.5s] Yeah. [2026.5s] Turns out, turns out everyone is watching and listening. [2032.9s] Scene fades and it's, it's later in the day. [2038.9s] And where would Flint go for his axe training? [2046.0s] There is next to the smithing shop. [2050.5s] There's like a little kind of a warehouse type thing that, you know, normally when, [2055.9s] when times are really good, it is filled with goods and materials and things that [2059.6s] are, you know, taking up a lot of the space. [2061.8s] But lately it's, it's been a little bit slow in the dwarven community here. [2067.4s] So he's kind of carved out a little area complete with like training dummies and blocks [2073.6s] of wood and various other things so that he can get some axe training in. [2079.9s] This area is clear and it's perfect for you. [2082.2s] And if the where in this space says you've been going at this training for a little [2087.9s] while when you hear just a clear of the throat behind you, you're a little, a little [2096.4s] loose on the right there. [2098.7s] Okay. [2099.7s] I, I hear what you're saying. [2101.8s] I just want to remind you that I'm trying out this like new two acts technique and it's, [2108.0s] it's just, I mean, I don't know. [2109.8s] I prefer the big old battle acts, but like, this is pretty fun too. [2112.8s] Yeah, I know. [2113.8s] It looks really good, especially as it probably could have snuck in there and [2117.5s] stabbed you right in the side. [2119.9s] Hey, wouldn't do that though. [2122.0s] All right. [2123.0s] Glory jam. [2124.0s] Let's just take it easy here. [2125.7s] Why did you want me to do this two acts technique anyway? [2128.2s] Like I'm down for trying something new, but like, is there an actual reason or just, just [2132.7s] for funsies? [2133.7s] I wanted to see if you could do it because if you could do it, then I could do it. [2137.2s] Okay. [2138.2s] All right. [2139.2s] I got you there. [2140.2s] Yeah. [2141.2s] What about the axe throwing? [2142.2s] Have you been practicing? [2143.2s] Have I been practicing? [2144.2s] He takes a hand axe from his belt and whips it at this, this wooden pole. [2148.9s] That's a wooden support pole. [2151.4s] I'll roll for it. [2153.2s] It hits it, but it doesn't stick in and kind of bounces off to the ground. [2158.0s] I've been working on it. [2160.0s] All right. [2161.0s] Well, the thing you have to remember when you're doing the throwing is, is depending [2164.6s] on how close or far away you are is how many rotations and of course how, how hard [2168.8s] you throw it as well. [2170.0s] So with the effort you put in there and you stopped a little bit short. [2173.4s] So I mean, just take like half a step forward and do it again. [2176.8s] You should be able to hit it. [2177.9s] No problem. [2178.9s] Hit and stick. [2179.9s] That's what we call it. [2180.9s] He takes half a step forward, skeptically looking at you, looses the hand axe and it [2187.9s] sticks in perfect. [2190.7s] So if one caravan leaves Mithril Hall and going, going at two horsepower and one caravan [2199.2s] leaves Waterdeep leaving at three horsepower, where do they collide? [2204.7s] I mean, this is not the time or the place for your, your brain teasers. [2210.4s] This is Axe practice and we will leave it as Axe practice. [2214.6s] That's just what you. [2215.6s] Okay. [2216.6s] Yep. [2217.6s] You got it. [2218.6s] You got it. [2219.6s] Smarty pants. [2220.6s] As I kind of turn away, I'm like, he moves in to kind of show you where your, where [2226.9s] your loose side is that he was, he was saying, and we fade to a very familiar [2233.3s] place to Flint and it's the Smith shop of your father, Fargram. [2241.4s] Describe to me what stands out to you for Flint in this. [2246.3s] The thing that stands out the most in, in Fargram shop to Flint, there is a beautiful [2255.1s] set of like Mithril chain mill that his dad made years ago and even when the shop [2263.5s] would fall on hard times or whatever it is, he would never sell it. [2268.9s] It was, it was the thing that he was the most proud of that he made as far as with [2274.4s] his two hands and yeah, it was, it was his, it's his pride and joy and it's, [2279.8s] it's front and center behind the counter in the shop. [2282.8s] You hear the sound of like heavy hammering and the forges are blazing. [2287.4s] It's a good day, like a really good day and you're staring up at this Mithril chain [2296.0s] mill, a sense of calm or peace washing over you. [2301.0s] Hammers and axes aren't going to make themself there Flint. [2304.0s] Yeah, yeah, I know, I know that, but I mean, you took this big order for [2308.6s] bracers and you know, it's finicky work. [2310.6s] So it's going to take me a little bit of time to get through it. [2313.4s] Look, it's not my fault. [2314.6s] She decided to make all the pies for the village on the same day we got this order. [2319.4s] Well, no, it's not your fault. [2320.3s] That's Helge's fault. [2321.7s] And we're both on the same page as far as that's concerned. [2324.8s] All right. Yeah. [2325.9s] Well, as long as you saved me a slice here. [2328.0s] Yeah, come on over and give me a hand here. [2330.4s] Yeah, no problem. [2331.2s] I did have to give a pie to the neighbor kid, Timber, just so he [2336.2s] wouldn't blabbed everyone about mom's secret ingredient. [2338.8s] What, the cinnamon? [2340.4s] Yeah, I mean, I know, but she was very offended. [2343.4s] Someone needs to tell her the cinnamons in every peach pie. [2346.0s] I mean, I've tried to tell her before, but she says it's a special cinnamon [2350.3s] that she gets from the Elven caravans that come through every couple of months. [2354.9s] So I don't know. [2355.8s] Maybe there's something different about it. [2358.1s] But yeah, I mean, it just seems like normal cinnamon to me. [2360.7s] Right. [2361.2s] Elven caravan. [2362.2s] That's fun. That's fun. [2363.1s] That's a good time. [2365.3s] You walk over to him and he hands you a piece of like un-forged steel. [2372.9s] You know exactly what to do with it. [2374.6s] And the two of you begin going to work in this forge. [2378.8s] Describe to me this scene or how Flint is feeling in this moment as [2384.4s] he's living this moment with his father. [2388.6s] Flint is feeling really good. [2391.0s] It's hot. It's hard work, but it's work that he loves. [2396.0s] And, you know, it's kind of like outside of his daily meditations. [2401.4s] It's like as close to Zen as he can get during his day to day. [2406.1s] You two are... [2408.2s] There are a few other workers there, but you two are working in unison. [2411.4s] And it almost becomes musical, the motions that you're going through. [2418.8s] And we catch a moment where you look over to Fargrim, to your father, [2425.4s] and he looks back at you and there's this small smile. [2432.4s] Not that it's unheard of that he would do that, but there's just this look of recognition. [2438.8s] And almost as if he's saying with his eyes, you're doing a good job. [2447.8s] And as that moment fades, we find Flint in a quiet place. [2457.2s] Deep in thought and meditation. [2462.1s] Yeah, he's all crisscross applesauce, as as Amy loves to say. [2467.8s] He's all crisscross applesauce on the floor and he's got kind of just hands on his knees. [2473.4s] And he's quietly repeating a mantra that just says, [2481.2s] My life is full of joy. [2484.5s] My life is full of joy. [2487.6s] My life is full of joy. [2490.0s] This mantra continues for a good amount of time. [2496.8s] The room otherwise is quiet. [2499.1s] And in your sight, your eyes are closed. [2504.8s] So in your vision, there's this flash of bright light. [2511.4s] This gray and then green and then red. [2515.8s] And then two dragon eyes staring back at you, not with any sort of malicious intent, [2524.8s] but two dragon eyes staring back at you, and they look equally surprised. [2531.8s] Then they're gone. [2534.6s] Well, that's that's never happened before. [2541.9s] We cut back to Yen Bull, who after Leosin had left, you quickly followed him into the next room. [2550.6s] Leosin. [2552.1s] Oh, yes, sorry. [2554.3s] Hi, Yen Bull. [2556.0s] Hi. [2557.0s] I, how can I help? [2559.6s] I am, I am ready. [2560.7s] I have, this is all I have, but you know everyone and everything here. [2566.6s] So who do I, who can I go and help? [2570.3s] Who needs assistance or what can I do? [2574.8s] There are some families further, further in who would likely need help getting their [2584.1s] children ready. [2585.5s] If you go see Amelie and Torrance in the back, they will at least be able to direct [2590.8s] you of what they, what they need help with. [2592.8s] They kind of take care of most of the children and probably would need the most [2597.4s] help right now. [2598.4s] Wonderful. [2599.4s] I will help. [2600.4s] But first, how are you? [2605.0s] Do you feel a little hopeful? [2611.6s] More so than in a long time. [2616.4s] Yeah. [2617.4s] Yeah. [2618.4s] We know the gods are not all dead. [2621.2s] We will get more. [2624.8s] One is a start and if he can recover, if he can use his power and if this, [2637.3s] teleportation object works, like we could, we could change what has happened. [2652.1s] I don't know how that looks. [2653.4s] I don't, I haven't, there's no books that say how time ripples out and changes if [2661.2s] we are able to even do it. [2664.4s] The fact that you and Thea and Flint had come from the past to get here, it leads me to [2672.6s] believe that we, we are putting the pieces into play to allow us to do the opposite. [2683.8s] There must be a way. [2685.7s] There must be. [2687.2s] It's nice to see you again. [2689.6s] It is nice to see you too. [2691.4s] I will, I will go help with the children. [2695.0s] Thank you. [2696.0s] Leosan, I wanted to, well, I just want to, like, how possible is it that this thing [2706.4s] will work if they even come back with it? [2712.6s] The Soul Bridge is what it's called. [2717.4s] It's powerful enough that it tore multiple rips in the fabric of reality between planes [2726.8s] at one time. [2728.3s] And our plan is to create one really big rip? [2733.0s] And our plan is to basically accordion time itself and tear a hole in it and step [2741.4s] through and hope we step through to the right moment. [2745.8s] I mean, there's two parts to this, Talgir. [2749.1s] There's the object and there's Bahman. [2754.6s] What can the old man do? [2755.6s] Well, the old man's the power source. [2759.5s] The old man's the one who can make the tear as big as it needs to be. [2769.2s] If what you're saying is true and the Arkane Brotherhood is now in fact gone, if they didn't [2777.3s] flee. [2778.4s] I don't know if it's true or not, but the tower itself deserted. [2785.8s] One of the last members that we were able to talk to. [2790.3s] She was in Bryn Shander when we left. [2793.4s] She was not there when we returned. [2796.2s] I don't know where she is. [2797.8s] I don't know if any of their other search parties came back, but I wouldn't say it's [2803.7s] too likely that any of them are out there. [2806.0s] It's my experience that it's probably true. [2811.5s] And if they were overrun that quickly and that severely, it's not likely that they [2818.5s] survived. [2819.5s] And if they didn't survive, we need a massive power source. [2826.5s] And the only other massive power source right now is Orcus. [2832.4s] And harnessing Orcus's power is not something that I'm comfortable doing. [2841.1s] I just don't think we'd have the opportunity, would we? [2844.7s] Not likely. [2845.7s] Okay, so when you say harness, like basically we're going to use the old man up. [2853.6s] I hope not. [2854.9s] But in his current state, I mean, how much power can he... [2858.2s] In his current state, he can't, like, I don't know if he could do it. [2862.4s] It looks like getting out of wherever it was that you were, back here, spent whatever [2871.4s] he has. [2872.4s] So now we have to hope that now he's back in the material plane, a rejuvenative [2877.6s] factor is in place. [2880.0s] Okay, so he needs, huh, isn't ironic. [2883.5s] We all just need time. [2885.3s] Which I feel is ticking ever so quickly. [2888.7s] Well, I mean, if they're right, and it was Vorunax and Lipsynche, yeah, we're running [2895.9s] short. [2899.5s] There's a beat before he says anything. [2905.2s] And all of you, everyone, we see Talgir and Leosin, we see Thea meditating beside Flint. [2918.1s] Flamikins is rushing about trying to pack up things with some of the more military [2923.9s] folk. [2924.9s] And Yembol is back, corralling children and placing tattered toys and clothes into [2931.7s] bags as quickly as she can. [2934.2s] There's a pulse that echoes out, causing the entire refuge to go silent. [2942.9s] The ground and walls begin to shake. [2948.2s] And those close to the front of this refuge would be Talgir and Leosin. [2955.6s] Thea, you would feel this in your meditative state. [2961.3s] The ceiling is torn open, and the main entry to the resistance's hold is blown in. [2968.1s] Debris is thrown, and people scream as they are struck by heavy stone. [2978.5s] I think Talgir and Leosin make a dexterity saving throw. [2983.5s] One story, guys, it's just the returning search party, they found that item. [2987.2s] I really wanted to make an entrance. [2990.2s] Yeah. [2991.2s] Dex save, you said, Ross? [2993.2s] Yes, please. [2994.2s] That is a 21. [2995.2s] Okay, Leosin got a 21 as well. [3000.3s] Both of you see this and quickly jump out of the way as this boulder of a stone [3006.5s] rockets between the two of you. [3009.8s] People are running and fleeing from this explosion, and as you move forward to look [3016.5s] and see what caused the chaos, you see the head of a zombified dragon peering down into [3024.1s] the sewer through the torn-up earth, the flesh decaying from its face, an open chest [3030.7s] cavity where inside you see black rotting intestines. [3035.6s] Thea, as you step into this room, you recognize this dragon, having fought them [3044.3s] once before. [3046.7s] It comes back to you in a flash of a memory, back to a greenery-filled cave with Flint [3052.9s] and Nularaaaa at your side as an adult green dragon emerges from the watery cave and [3059.3s] roars before you. [3061.7s] Staring through at you is an undead cooth. [3071.0s] Dumbgeons and Dragons, Season 2, Episode 96.
